Care for Corsets
After wearing, air out your Corset by hanging it in front of a floor fan, If you do not have a fan simply drape your Corset over a chair or hanger and let it dry and air out. Do not dry your corset in direct sunlight this will cause damage to the fabric.Occasionally we recommend you spray your Corset with Fabreze only on the lining side before drying, this will keep it smelling fresh and reduce the need for costly dry cleaning. Dry clean after every 3 or 4 wearings. When possible, wear something underneath your Corset; a thin camisole, tube top etc will keep the perspiration away from your Corset. We highly recommend you NEVER remove your corset without first loosening the laces in the back. Neglecting to loosen laces before removal can result in a broken, bent or damaged busk.
Fabric Corsets DO NOT WASH YOUR CORSET - remember, your corset is made with steel boning, water will cause it to rust. If it needs cleaning, take it to a trusted dry cleaner, and if possible, have it dry cleaned by hand.
Leather Corsets
As with all Corsets we recommend airing it out after wearing it
especially the lining. If your Leather Corset becomes smudged you can
wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Keep your Leather Corset supple by
treating it with a leather conditioner or take it to a trusted leather
cleaners about once a year. Always make leather professionals aware
this is a steel boned garment.
Patent Leather Corsets
As with all Corsets we recommend airing it out after wearing it
especially the lining. To keep the patent shiny, treat your Corset with
patent polish or simply dry polish it with a very soft cloth. Because
smudges are harder to clean after they have set, we advise you always
wipe your Patent Corset clean with a damp cloth as soon as you take it
off.
How to put on a corset
It is useful to have someone assisting, but it is possible to put your
corset on without help. Corsets are delivered laced up at the back with
two long loops at the waist. Loosen off the lacing then put the corset
round you and fasten the front busk; do the top clasp first and the
rest should follow.Pull the loops gently then tighten the lacing
progressively towards the middle from both top and bottom until you are
happy with the fit. There should be a pleasant 'hugging' sensation. To
finish, tie the ends in a bow at back.Text for Corset Art and
